Special deluxe rooms

Deluxe room featuring an open air bath. At over 1,600 meters above sea level it overlooks a breathtaking sea of clouds!

Japanese style room, modeled around a traditional tea-ceremony room.

This room is designed in the style of Sukiya-zukuri; a tea-ceremony room from the Azuchi-Momoyama era when Nobunaga Oda and Hideyoshi Toyotomi were in power between 1565 and 1615. It also has a bathroom built with Japanese cypress (Hinoki). The scent of cypress wood is a wonderful touch when soaking in the bath. Enjoy the magnificent view of the Japan Alps, which are particularly beautiful at sun rise and sun set. We hope you enjoy the charm of taking an open air bath with the picturesque natural backdrop.

Japanese style room, modeled around a traditional Japanese house.

This room has a bathtub made of Shigaraki-yaki ceramics. The primary feature of the ceramic is its infrared effect that warms your body to the core. Relax in the warm bath and soft lighting and take in the view of the Northern Alps. The original hot spring water has a temperature of 60 degrees, and is often used as a hot spring cure.
We hope you enjoy the color, warmth and the scent of this heartwarming space, reminiscent of Japanese houses lost to the past.

Guestrooms | Twin guestrooms featuring exceptional onsen baths

Located at a height of 1600 meters, Hotel Higashidate has recently renovated, twin guestrooms featuring exceptional onsen baths. These baths, with majestic views of the surrounding natural environment, have continuously flowing, circulated hot spring water. Rooms No.506 Shiun, No.507 Seiho, No.508 Yamabuki, and No.509 Akane each has their own unique wall designs and layout, allowing guests a different experience each time they stay.

Gazing from the twin guestroom windows, take in the spectacular view of the Hida Mountain Range, part of the Northern Japan Alps, located in the center of Japan. Fully enjoy your relaxing onsen bath, viewing breathtaking mountain lines floating on a blanket of cloud.

Each of the special twin guestrooms features a Japanese style wooden bathtub made of Aomori hiba, a kind of Japanese cypress well-renowned in the world for its high anti-bacterial qualities. In addition, its beautiful scent helps soothe the body and mind. There will likely be some white floating solids on the water, which is no reason for concern, in fact, quite the opposite. They are actually mineral deposits called hot water flowers, and are a sign that the water is high quality onsen water; the higher the water quality, the more minerals it contains. The hot spring, categorized as a ‘simple hydrogen sulfide’ spring (tension tonicity spring), is said to be good for rheumatic disease, neuralgia, skin lesions, feminine diseases, and high blood pressure, among others.

The Aomori hiba cypress used to make the bathtubs in the special twin guestrooms contains hinokitiol and beta-dolabrin, which have strong anti-bacterial effects. There are only a handful of tree species in the world which contain both compounds, and only the Aomori hiba in Japan.

Each of the renovated twin guestrooms has a bath made from scented wood grown in Japan. The panoramic views from the bath offer you the ever-changing beauty of Mother Nature. From dawn to dusk you will never tire of the breathtaking sights of the 2000-meter (6500 ft.) mountains, especially as they glow in the setting sun.
Depending on weather conditions, you may find yourself floating on a blanket of clouds, or draped in a mesmerizing fog, as the hotel is located on a mountain overlooking valleys, which turn into ski slopes in winter.
